Fellow Stagg is a beautifully designed kettle widely used in coffee-loving countries today. Its recognition is more widespread than most other kettles on the market (probably only second to the legendary Hario).
Users have had excellent experiences with the Fellow EKG kettle. Therefore, the upgraded Stagg EKG Pro version doesn’t have many external changes but goes deeper into customization menus accessed through a button right next to the large dial.
Some highlights that Fellow Stagg EKG Pro inherits include: Precise flow-control spout; intuitive dial; balanced ergonomic handle; large 0.9L capacity; and ability to hold temperature continuously for 60 minutes.

The Fellow Stagg EKG Pro 0.9L electric kettle design includes an additional menu button next to the dial
DISTINCTIVE FEATURES OF THE FELLOW STAGG EKG PRO ELECTRIC KETTLE
- High-resolution multi-color LED display: Compared to the previous version, the screen is much more beautiful and sharper. This detail doesn’t make water boil faster but helps aesthetics lovers feel more satisfied when using it.
- Always-on clock display mode like Always On Display on phones: An interesting feature that makes the kettle feel more “dynamic” even when not in active use. Users can choose between digital or analog clock displays based on preference.
- Adjustable hold temperature duration: Instead of just the default 1-hour hold, you can customize in 4 intervals: 15/30/45/60 minutes.
- Adjustable notification volume: In a home setting, a small sound is more than enough! If using the kettle in a coffee shop, it’s best to set the volume to maximum.
- Set altitude for safe automatic shut-off: If you set 100°C while boiling water in Lam Dong, the water may boil too vigorously and become dangerous. This is a new and quite important feature for those using the kettle in areas significantly higher than sea level.
- WiFi software updates: Not mandatory to access this mode, but in the future Fellow will release new updates for the electric kettle that can be upgraded through the EKG Updater app installed on your phone.
- Additional menu button to access settings: Many smart features waiting for users to discover…right below here
- Removed groove in kettle base: Much easier to clean than the previous version
NEW SETTINGS MENU ON THE FELLOW STAGG EKG PRO ELECTRIC KETTLE

Multi-color LED screen for Fellow Stagg EKG Pro kettle menu settings
- General: Turn WiFi software updates on/off and set language.
- Units: Choose °C or °F units. Vietnam defaults to °C!
- Altitude: Set altitude to prevent over-boiling. For example, Da Lat or Sapa at ~1500m above sea level has a boiling point around 95°C. The Fellow Pro kettle will automatically control PID and not continue heating when water reaches this temperature to avoid unsafe vigorous boiling. Hanoi or lowland provinces can skip this setting. If you select it, the water will never reach a full boil!
- Pre-Boil: The pre-boil then cool-down feature is probably favored for Asians (specifically Vietnamese) because many people worry that water that hasn’t boiled shouldn’t be drunk. It’s also useful for families with babies because the optimal milk temperature is around 40°C. However, if heating from cold water to 40°C then stopping, the water hasn’t been sterilized yet. Can be turned on and off in settings!
- Chime: Sound and volume adjustment notification when water reaches the set temperature.
- Schedule: Set a time to automatically turn on the kettle once a day. However, this feature is relatively pointless because the Fellow Pro only takes about 4 minutes to boil. This timeframe is just enough to prepare grinding and brewing equipment. Moreover, if you accidentally forget to add water to the kettle, it will affect durability (even though the kettle has auto shut-off when empty).
- Hold: Set temperature hold time between 15/30/45/60 minutes (compared to the standard EKG version’s default 60 minutes)
- Guide Mode: Suggests temperatures for brewing coffee and tea if users lack experience.
- Bricky: Legendary brick-breaking game played using the Fellow dial

Correlation table between altitude (above sea level) and water boiling temperature
In Vietnam, the highest point is probably Pu Si Lung peak (3,083m) in Lai Chau. Boiling water here for coffee, it’s already vigorously boiling before reaching 90°C. In populated areas around 1500m like Lam Dong, water boils around 95°C (no wonder coffee always tastes good here). Back in Hanoi/Saigon, boiling water vigorously and brewing coffee can sometimes taste burnt!
DRAWBACKS OF THE FELLOW STAGG EKG PRO 0.9L ELECTRIC KETTLE
- Lid switched to silicone gasket: By some mysterious way, the company changed from an all-steel lid to one with a soft gasket. In reality, the rubber gasket expands when the kettle heats up, making the lid difficult to open. It’s unclear why the Pro version was designed this way, but it can be felt as a step backward from its standard EKG brother.
- Altitude measurement unit is in Ft, not metric: Vietnamese users have to do the conversion. Users can Google it or use a calculator knowing that 1ft = 0.3m
- No Vietnamese in the menu: Besides English, the Pro version has added French and Spanish. Don’t they know Vietnamese people are serious coffee enthusiasts, to skip our melodious Vietnamese language?

IMPORTANT NOTES WHEN USING THE FELLOW STAGG 0.9L ELECTRIC KETTLE
- Don’t fill past the MAX line marked inside the kettle. Hot water will overflow when you boil water above this line
- When the kettle has too little water, the temperature control function will no longer be accurate due to excessively fast heating speed
- Don’t rinse the kettle under running water, always keep the kettle base dry
- In high-altitude areas of Vietnam, the boiling temperature is lower than 100°C: Cao Bang, Moc Chau, Son La, Lam Dong… This is due to low pressure causing changes in boiling temperature, not a manufacturing defect.
