The Outin Nano Portable Espresso in Teal (deep blue) is a beautiful color in the collection of 5 vibrant colors
In Vietnam, the manual coffee brewing movement is quite strong compared to the rest of Southeast Asia. Most coffee lovers are familiar with compact devices that can brew espresso. These include: Wacaco, Staresso, Flair espresso, ROK, 9Barista, and more.
The common feature of these devices is that they’re all portable and can brew espresso ranging from simple to near-perfect. Therefore, they’re typically categorized based on espresso quality. However, among all these tools, none can brew espresso on the go without needing hot water or a stove.
Outin has entered and shaken up this game simply by being able to boil cold water itself, extract espresso with an integrated electric pump without needing a stove, hot water, or manual pumping to create pressure. Now, the concept of asking for hot water may become a thing of the past for enthusiasts who are tired of carrying cumbersome items on every journey.
THE OUTIN NANO ESPRESSO MAKER STILL HAS ROOM FOR FURTHER IMPROVEMENT
The convenience Outin provides comes with a trade-off!
Here, it’s the quality of the espresso – slightly better than mini portable brewers like Nanopresso or Staresso mini (mainly due to the extremely powerful 20-bar pump pressure, allowing for finer grinding and tighter tamping). It falls slightly behind the Staresso Mirage Plus and is significantly outpaced by the Flair espresso or 9Barista.
The main reason for the espresso quality is that Outin’s filter basket only uses about 6-7g of coffee, while extraction can reach 30-65ml. This means the coffee-to-water ratio is quite high – a 1:5 ratio. (Typically with quality espresso machines, 1g of coffee yields 2g of espresso – a 1:2 ratio)
Therefore, we’re confident that in the near future, the company will continue to launch accessory upgrades for Outin’s filter basket to 15-18g or even 20g of coffee. Let’s wait and see!
SO WHO IS THE OUTIN NANO ESPRESSO MAKER FOR?
First, you’ve got to love coffee!
- Outin is best suited for frequent campers: Previously, they needed to prepare many items to brew a cup of coffee, but now they only need this one brewer. If you add a portable grinder, it’s perfect; otherwise, a few Nespresso capsules will do the trick easily.
- For motorcycle or car travelers, Outin is extremely convenient because it’s compact. When you stop somewhere, just turn on the machine, prepare ground coffee and cold water. After 3 minutes, you’ll have a hot cup of espresso (can brew 5 cups consecutively). Get back in the vehicle, just plug it in to charge while traveling and the machine will be fully charged to continue brewing at your next destination.
- Outin suits people who drink coffee regularly but…not in large quantities. It’s especially suitable for those who enjoy tasting different coffees throughout the day: 7 AM a bold Guatemala / 1 PM a floral Ethiopian / 9 PM a sweet Colombian decaf without losing sleep. The coffee amount is only 7g per shot, so you’ll find it delicious and crave more, meaning you might drink…more than usual.
- Particularly, Outin is very suitable for women who love coffee because it eliminates the manual pressing or pumping process (which is quite tiring). Just prepare a few grams of coffee, and Outin Nano will take care of the rest for you.

- Use a 5V/2A or 5V/3A charger to charge the machine
- The machine won’t charge when using a charger under 10W
- If the power light flashes 5 times and the machine beeps 3 times during use, the battery is almost dead. Please fully charge before continuing to use.
- Only use the auto water heating mode for espresso when the machine has 2 or more battery bars remaining. 1 bar may not be enough to complete the cold water brewing process.
- When brewing coffee from cold water, you can press and hold the power button for 2 seconds and prepare your coffee while waiting for the water to boil. You have about 3 minutes before the machine starts extracting coffee. Typically, preparation time takes only about 2 minutes (including grinding coffee and tamping into the filter basket)
- Using 50ml of water will extract 35ml of espresso – Using 80ml will extract 65ml of coffee, suitable for drinking as an americano when adding water.
