Before the xBloom coffee maker hit the market, pour over coffee lovers had two choices:
- Use automatic drip coffee makers with little to no control over extraction factors. These machines typically just get the job done but rarely create truly delicious coffee.
- Invest in manual equipment that requires significant skill and comes with a substantial total cost (grinder, gooseneck kettle, pour over dripper, precision scale… If you can master it, this is the way to make the best pour over coffee!
However, manual brewing involves many variables. Inconsistencies in temperature, water amount, timing, and pour technique always lead to variations in coffee flavor. This makes replicating a great cup more difficult, and users must accept a certain failure rate in their brewing results.
The xBloom Studio coffee maker solves this problem by using technology to recreate precision down to the gram and degree Celsius. Pour speed and style can also be programmed into brewing profiles and repeated consistently. This means every cup brewed by the Xbloom Studio can achieve the most uniform flavor.
However, consistency doesn’t equal delicious. The xBloom Studio is like a chef cooking according to a specified recipe. Therefore, evaluating quality and fine-tuning profiles after brewing is the most important work users need to do.
FEATURES OF THE XBLOOM STUDIO AUTOMATIC COFFEE MAKER
- Compact: Footprint of just 204 x 170mm, height 426mm—compared to setting out a kettle, grinder, and scale, the xBloom is much more compact and space-saving.
- All-in-one integration: Includes a grinder, high-precision electronic scale, PID-controlled water heater, automated pour-by-pour spout, and an electronic system that stores brewing profiles.
- Automatic profile recognition and activation via NFC chip: Tap the card and the machine switches to the corresponding brewing profile. Can be fine-tuned slightly before brewing.
- Mobile device connectivity through the Xbloom app: Create brewing recipes, choose from shared recipe libraries, sync new recipes to NFC cards… Users can also skip connectivity and use direct settings on the machine through physical knobs.
- Precise temperature control by brewing stage: A key factor in determining coffee extraction. A practical application is setting the final pour stage to 70-80°C to limit bitterness.
- Spout simulates barista hand-pouring technique: 3 different pour styles can be customized and combined for each pour (straight stream, spiral, circular). Each pour style brings different effects to the coffee’s flavor profile.
3 LEVELS OF USING THE XBLOOM STUDIO COFFEE MAKER
- Fully automatic Autopilot mode: Uses xBloom’s pre-packaged coffee pods (xPod capsules). Each coffee bag they sell comes with an NFC card containing the brewing recipe. Just tap this card on top of the machine and xBloom automatically brews according to the corresponding profile. In Vietnam specifically, these bean capsules will likely gather dust because local roasters offer many fresher bean varieties at much lower prices.
- Semi-automatic Copilot mode: This is the level preferred by 90% of xBloom users. Your beans, your recipe. Everything is set through the xBloom app on your mobile device. To use an advertising slogan, Copilot is “Have it your way.”
- Creative Freesolo mode: Use the grinder, brewer, and scale completely independently like regular manual brewing equipment. Sometimes a little improvisation enhances the xBloom experience.
Check out the video below demonstrating these 3 levels of experience.

- Auto-adjustable to 80 different grind sizes with ~17 micrometer adjustments: Even accommodates espresso brewing if users need it

WHO SHOULD USE THE XBLOOM STUDIO AUTOMATIC POUR OVER COFFEE MAKER?
- Café owners seeking consistency: No dependence on baristas—just a few button presses and customers get exactly the cup of coffee with precisely the flavor they’re looking for.
- Offices needing a brewer for staff and clients: xBloom Studio will quickly brew a carafe for everyone within 3 minutes.
- Home filter coffee drinkers seeking convenience: The key is saving time while still achieving excellent coffee quality.
WHO SHOULDN’T USE THE XBLOOM STUDIO?
- Those passionate about the manual hand-brewing style: After all, whatever tools you enjoy using are what’s truly valuable and worth keeping.
- Extremely particular café owners (specialty cafés): xBloom easily outperforms most amateur baristas but will be left behind by professional ones. Understanding bean origins and extraction theory can help baristas exploit coffee quality more thoroughly than the Xbloom.
NOTES WHEN USING THE XBLOOM STUDIO COFFEE MAKER
- Can operate without app connection: 3 hard knobs on the machine face can be preset to 3 different profiles. These profiles need to be edited in the app for initial setup and can still be edited directly on the machine before brewing.
- Can connect water to a larger reservoir: More convenient if a café uses the xBloom Studio.
- Water tank lid has suggested grind sizes: Reference for setting up different coffee brewing methods

DISADVANTAGES OF THE XBLOOM STUDIO COFFEE MAKER
- Total investment: Compared to drip coffee makers costing a few hundred thousand or a few million dong, the xBloom is excessive. However, compared to buying individual pour over brewing equipment, this machine is very reasonable. A decent electric grinder costs 5-6 million, a temperature-controlled kettle 3-4 million, an app-connected scale 4-5 million. And the most expensive thing is hiring a barista at 7 million per month (and they’re not even professional). So, investing in xBloom Studio is like paying 2 months’ salary and then exploiting it for 5 years—worth it.
- Plastic body: Actually, visually the machine is still very attractive; the plastic material only seems inferior compared to the xBloom Original version in aluminum alloy (about 1.5 times more expensive).
- Plastic drip tray: If finished in metal, the machine would look more premium.
- Takes time to familiarize and calibrate: Connecting to your phone, editing and saving profiles, syncing with NFC cards… are slightly complex for technologically challenged people. However, this is the way to maximize the Xbloom Studio’s performance.
- Water tank needs constant refilling: ~1L capacity means you’ll need to add water after about 3-4 uses. Somewhat inconvenient for heavy users (in which case connect an external water reservoir).
- Can connect water directly but can’t handle line pressure: The water supply tube is only allowed to plug into the removable water tank. If connected directly to the water filter line, water will spray back into the tank and overflow. The company sells a pressure reducer accessory for about $60 to serve this need.
- Currently, the xBloom app cannot be installed on iPhones if the region is set to Vietnam. Android phones sometimes work but sometimes don’t (Installation worked on Samsung Ultra S24, but iPhone requires changing the region to another country).
