The Timemore Basic scale has for many years been considered the go-to scale for coffee brewers, whether in a café or at home. With the Basic 3, Timemore set out to create the most stable scale they’ve ever made. Faster sensor response, 0.1g reliability, and an electromagnetic shield to protect against interference from electronic devices with magnetic fields in the brewing environment.
NEW UPGRADES ON THE TIMEMORE BASIC 3 SCALE
Integrated electromagnetic shielding: Electronic devices in the surrounding environment can interfere with a scale’s sensor. The Basic 3 integrates an interference blocker to ensure more accurate and consistent readings.

The Timemore Basic 3 adds an electromagnetic shield, protecting against magnetic interference from machines and devices in the brewing area.
IPX3 water resistance: This protection standard guards the device against direct water jets, making it capable of handling everyday splashes and spills during normal use. (Note that this is not submersion-proof — if the scale falls into water, it will still be damaged.)

The Timemore Basic 3 features enhanced surface water resistance.
24 hours of continuous use on a single charge: The 1600mAh battery takes approximately 3.5 hours to charge fully.

The 1600mAh battery allows the Basic 3 to run through 250 pour over brew sessions on a single full charge.
WHAT’S DIFFERENT BETWEEN THE BASIC 2 (2024) AND BASIC 3 (2026)
Improved accuracy and minimum weight detection: The minimum detectable weight drops from 0.5g on the Basic 2 down to 0.2g on the Basic 3. Accuracy is 0.1g for weights up to 500g.
3-mode toggle switch: The switch lets users switch between brewing methods simply and quickly. On the Basic 2, you had to press the touch button 5 times in succession to cycle through modes — which reduced hardware complexity but sometimes made for a less-than-smooth user experience.

Smaller design: The Basic 3 is 25% lighter and 35% smaller than the Basic 2, making it more versatile — it still accommodates 600ml brewing servers while also fitting onto standard espresso machine drip trays.

The Basic 3’s compact design works well for both pour over and espresso brewing methods.

Larger silicone surface mat: The Basic 3 uses a thicker mat that covers most of the scale’s surface frame, keeping things firmly in place during use. It features channels on top to direct overflow water to the sides of the scale, preventing water from reaching the display or dripping directly onto the scale.

The thick, corner-covering mat on the Basic 3 delivers better stability and water protection.
The mat can be flipped over to serve as a portafilter stand: When you need to weigh the coffee dose in a filter basket, simply flip the silicone pad over and rest the portafilter handle on the scale surface.

USAGE NOTES FOR THE TIMEMORE BASIC 3 SCALE
- Charge only with a 5V/2A power source — do not use high-wattage chargers such as premium phone chargers (15W, 18W, 30W… will damage the battery).
- Always use the scale with the included silicone mat to prevent surface cracking. Placing a glass server directly on the scale and brewing for extended periods at high temperatures will damage the surface, causing cracks that affect appearance and may allow water to seep inside and damage the scale.
- Power off using the physical button on the side if the scale won’t be used for an extended period. This ensures a full shutdown and allows the scale to power back on quickly without needing to recharge when you next use it.
- Avoid letting water get in through the underside of the scale. Wipe the scale dry after use.
- Do not weigh items heavier than 2kg — this can throw the sensor out of calibration and affect accuracy.
- Do not press down hard on or sit on the scale surface.
