Before getting into the technical information, please read about the journey of creating this electric grinder to understand why Timemore decided to produce the Sculptor 078. (Link to the article highlighted in blue right below)
………. THE BIRTH OF THE TIMEMORE SCULPTOR 078 ELECTRIC GRINDER ……….
The birth of the Timemore Sculptor 078 electric coffee grinder
The Sculptor’s design follows Timemore’s minimalist philosophy, so the grinder looks very simple. It’s simple, but the finished details are refined. You won’t see a single screw on this machine!
The total weight reaches 7kg, the joints fit snugly and solidly as if cast from a single block of metal. The matte finish feels solid and sturdy.
KEY FEATURES OF THE TIMEMORE SCULPTOR 078 COFFEE GRINDER
- 78mm diameter 3-layer “Spiral Blade” burrs: Special Hybrid Ghost design combining cutting teeth and flat burrs helps coffee exit the burrs quickly, avoiding repeated grinding and giving coffee superior uniformity. It’s so superior you can easily see it with the naked eye compared to the best grinders on the market today like Comandante, Timemore X Lite, or the Fellow ODE electric grinder…
- Integrated variable frequency drive changing grinding speed from 800-1400 RPM: Allows you to experiment with flavor differences at each grinding speed (Slow grinding gives clean, clear flavor while fast grinding adds more fine particles, making coffee more complex in flavor—of course, too many fines causes unpleasant taste, so Timemore Sculptor limits maximum speed to 1400 RPM)
- Brushless motor: With high durability requiring no maintenance, operates quietly and smoothly without noise. It’s integrated with a circuit board that instantly auto-adjusts speed through a PID algorithm.
- Maximum coffee retention 0.2g: Timemore Sculptor integrates a knock dial that activates the internal knocker to purge nearly all coffee grounds. Just turn 2-3 times and you’ll get almost all the coffee you initially put in the hopper.

COFFEE FLAVOR WHEN USING THE TIMEMORE SCULPTOR 078
True to the spirit of a sculptor, you can use different speeds to sculpt coffee particles with different uniformity ratios. Here, we used Ethiopian Yirgacheffe coffee for a small test:
- Grind size 7
- Brewing device: B75 dripper
- Accessories: Timemore shower screen (Ensures brewing consistency without depending on pouring skill)
- Kalita 155 coffee filters (specifically for B75 dripper)
- Weight: 15g per brew
- Water poured: 2 times (First time 30ml bloom for 1 minute, second time pour 200ml to flow completely through the shower screen)
- Timemore Basic Pro scale (For accurate measurement ensuring consistency)
- Water temperature: 92°C
- Timemore 800ml kettle (Mainly for accurate temperature, since we already have the Timemore automatic shower screen)
- COFFEE BREWED AT 800 RPM SPEED: The Ethiopian coffee brings clear jasmine and orange floral notes with a pleasant black tea hint. When drinking hot, the floral notes haven’t fully developed, but 2 minutes after brewing, the floral aroma explodes more.
- COFFEE BREWED AT 1400 RPM SPEED: Also Ethiopian coffee, the black tea note emerges and the aftertaste lingers much longer from when drinking hot. The orange-jasmine aroma decreases slightly but is still easily recognizable.
This difference is a personal perception and may vary depending on bean type, grind size, and brewing method. So if possible, please visit iCup’s showroom to experience and taste for yourself
SOME DISADVANTAGES OF THE TIMEMORE SCULPTOR 078 ELECTRIC GRINDER
- The machine doesn’t have an auto-stop sensor but only shuts off after 60 seconds from pressing the grind button: It’s unfortunate because if integrated, the Sculptor experience would be more complete. Grinding 20g of coffee takes only 10 seconds but having to wait another 50 seconds for the machine to keep running seems a bit annoying—you’ll have to manually press the stop button!
- The plastic inside the bean hopper scratches easily: Right when you receive the machine, the inside of the hopper has a perfectly beautiful shine, but after a few months of use, thousands of coffee beans rubbing will cause many scratches on the inside. This detail isn’t visible from the outside—only when you open the hopper lid will you see it. It’s not too important, but if it stayed beautiful and durable… that would still be better!
- Bean hopper lid design leans toward form over function: The lid has a magnetic catch to slide off the bean hopper, but push a bit hard and this lid can fall off. So after using it for a while, you’ll get used to… lifting the lid instead of sliding it as designed.
- Adjustment dial feels a bit heavy: Probably because it’s designed as a single piece of alloy, plus the dial has a large surface area, so this experience isn’t particularly smooth. However, it’s still simple and easy to use!
- Expensive: In reality, the Sculptor’s price is high compared to the general home user market. However, for individuals passionate about finding the perfect cup or a café requiring high-quality pour over grinding and brewing, the Sculptor is an extremely worthwhile investment.
